About WBAR

WBAR is an independent, free-form, non-commercial, non-profit radio station broadcasting from the Barnard College campus in New York City. All of our programming is generated entirely by on-campus DJ's, with a new show spinning every 2 hours. Our staff is a fine bunch of Barnard and Columbia students, and every one of us is just as aesthetically pleasing as we are qualified for the job.

WBAR's mission is to provide an outlet for the music that you won't find on mainstream stations, so we don't stop at broadcasting. We also put on some of the best shows in New York City.

Outlawed Sagas

with Natalie G and DJ Nicoleslaw and Tatiana d

Monday at 8PM

Primary Genre: Other

Here, every week on Outlawed Sagas, we'll pick a theme relevant to our favorite country--Iceland. The themes will range from a crazy night out in 101 (downtown Iceland, for you xenophobes), beautiful landscapes, Icelandic artists (don't worry, you won't have to listen to just Sigur Ros and Bjork for two hours, although that wouldn't be such a bad thing), bankrupt blues, natural geographic beauty (expect songs about glaciers, black sand beaches and songs that just praise landscape) and songs about darkness (seeing as Icelanders have only about 5 hours of light each day). Each week, we'll also try to read out or summarize a short saga, because boy, those sagas will get your heart going. So tune in and remind yourself, no matter how bad you have it, no one has it worse than an Icelander. Visit adoptanicelander.com for more on Icelandic developments.
