Last Tuesday, I got the chance to see Preservation Hall Jazz Band open for Arcade Fire on the American leg of their tour. The ensemble has a fifty year history in New Orleans, its home base and the location of the eponymous hall. It was a robust crew equipped with tubas and horns and snares galore - more than enough to flood the arena with virtuosic solos and dueling rhythms. All I can contribute is my shitty iPhone video, which does no service to the band's cohesion as live performers. But! There is an entire Internet of stuff! Give these fellas a listen:
